1.  Why should I get myself added to the listings database?

By adding your information to the listings database, you accomplish a number of things.  First, you obtain an immediate web presence that allows anyone in the world (connected to the internet) to view your information.  Got a better way to do something?  Can you do something that nobody else can?  Do you want potential clients to be able to find you?  Want a speaker's bureau or a conference organizer to be able to find you?  Our "Service Seeker" makes it easy, but it can't help you if your information isn't in the database.  Second, it allows others to send your profile to their colleagues or friends when they discover you.  Third, we can supply you with an optional email security package that will allow you to receive emails and attachments from others without any requirement to publicly share your personal email address.  Fourth, you can use your listing to supply an internet link to your own web page!  Fifth, by using this service, you access our strength in numbers and skill in maximizing internet exposure.  Finally (and most importantly) it gives us another ally that we can find!

2.  I don't evaluate my work but I'd like to learn how.  Can you help?

Wonderful!  Go to our discussion area and ask other prosocial scientists like yourself!  Furthering your prosocial goals is our mission in life, so please don't hesitate to let us know what we can do to help.  Just ask! In time, we hope you'll find useful test instruments here too!

3.  Why do I need to register in order to use the discussion boards?

Registration involves selecting a username and a password.  This is free and is needed for the administration of the boards - there is no breach of confidentiality, nor is there any economic advantage to Prosocial Science for getting you to register.  In order for the boards to be moderated (to keep "spammers" and disrespectful people out, a method of granting access (or removing it) is needed.  We know it's a pain, but it's the only way we can keep out some pretty nasty unsolicited stuff.

4.  I'm a test author - do you really want to highlight my work?

Yes we do.  If you are a social scientist who can contribute to our overall mission in some way with a measurement instrument that you own, we would like to look at your work.  If we think the instrument is sound and we are both interested, we will discuss the terms of publication with you.  We are hoping to help cover the production costs and the costs associated with this site, not to get rich.  We will create a custom-made software application for you, and together with the relevant documentation, distribute it on this site.

5.  I don't get it... how do I add my information to the database?

Piece of cake.  Just go to the "Service Search" page, and click on the glowing invitation at the bottom of the page.  This link will take you to a form that you can fill out that will let us know what you would like to say in your profile.

6.  Free?  What's the catch?

Yup!  We are doing our very best to provide everything to you, the general public and anyone else using this website for free - because we believe that it's the right thing to do.

Of course, it costs us money to provide the site and its services, so we are hoping to cover our costs another way.  We have sponsors on our site, and whenever someone follows a link from our page and purchases something from one of them, we earn a small commission that we will put toward maintaining the site.  If you like the site and would like to help us, please think of us when you need to purchase a book, plan a trip, or get office supplies.  See our "Shopping" area and comparison shop - we're affiliated with some pretty impressive services!
